This 500 year old, Grade 2 Listed property in the South Downs was undergoing sympathetic restoration by DD Penny refurbishments. This heritage development was to be entered into the UK Heritage Awards in March 2020.

Copper replaced a mix of Cast Iron gutters, that had deteriorated beyond saving, and plastic gutters which were not in keeping with the age and listed status of the property.

Though this mistake is common, you should always consult your conservation officer before replacing guttering on a listed property. Rainclear can provide samples for your conservation officer’s review and approval. In this case the use of Copper instead of Cast Iron was approved. It will darken as it ages.

Varying distances from the facade to the downpipe drop dealt with using the different M10 screw lengths

Side-fix rafter brackets for the front elevation and an unusual angle at the back of the property were required.

The copper downpipe clip with 100mm M10 screw allowed for the varying distances from the facade to the downpipe drop on this unique property.
